Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus, informally known as Marc Singer Needs a Paycheck, is the third, and thankfully final installment in the Beastmaster film series. This one wasn't quite cool enough to make it into theaters, but found its home on the small screen as a made-for-TV movie. It was released through MCA Home Entertainment and premiered on NBC on May 24th, 1996. The film was directed by Gabrielle Beaumont with a script written by David Wise. In this one, the steadfastly aging yet still rocking a six-pack Marc Singer returns for round three in the role of loincloth-wearing barbarian Dar. Tony Todd co-stars as Seth, Keith Coulouris as Bey, Sandra Hess as Shada, and Casper Van Dien as King Tal.

Notes[]

  • The BeastMaster was created by director Don Coscarelli and screenwriter Paul Pepperman. It is based on the novel of the same name by author Andre Norton.

Fun Facts[]

  • Although one might think that this was the end of the Beastmaster franchise, a BeastMaster television series was put into production only a few years later. It ran for three seasons from 1999 to 2002 and starred Daniel Goddard as Dar.
  • This is the only film in the series helmed by a female director.
