The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an American feature film of the romance and drama genres, with elements of fantasy. It is based on the 1922 short story of the same name by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The film was directed by David Fincher and written by Eric Roth. It was produced by Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures and premiered in the United States on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2008. The film stars Brad Pitt as the eponymous protagonist Benjamin Button - a man who ages backwards. The film also stars Cate Blanchett as Pitt's love interest Caroline Fuller. The movie was nominated for thirteen Academy Awards in 2009, winning in the categories of Best Achievement in Art Direction, Best Achievement in Makeup and Best Achievement in Visual Effects.
