In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dwarves relate to the Nine Realms and the kingdom of Asgard. Once numbering 299, they once lived in a mega-structure built in orbit around the star known as Nidavellir. The Mad Titan known as Thanos came to Nidavellir, demanding the dwarves to forge him a powerful gauntlet that was strong enough to contain the energy of the six Infinity Stones. After construction of the gauntlet was completed, Thanos massacred all 299 dwarfs living on the structure, sparing only one, Eitri, though Eitri did lose the use of his hands during the encounter.
