Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is an American/United Kingdom co-produced feature film of the action & adventure genres. It is based on the popular Tomb Raider series of video games developed by Eidos Interactive. The film was directed by Simon West with a screenplay written by Patrick Massett and John Zinman based on a story treatment by Sara B. Cooper, Mike Werb and Michael Colleary. The story was adapted from media by Simon West. It was produced by Paramount Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on June 15th, 2001. The film stars Angelina Jolie as the eponymous Lara Croft with Jolie's actual father, Jon Voight, playing her on-screen father as well, Lord Richard Croft. The film also stars Iain Glen as Manfred Powell, Noah Taylor as Bryce, and future James Bond portrayer Daniel Craig as Alex West.
