Ondine is an Irish independent film of the romantic drama genre. It was written and directed by Neil Jordan and presented by Wayfare Entertainment. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in Canada on September 14th, 2009. The movie stars Colin Farrell as Syracuse, an alcoholic fisherman who works off the coast of Southern Ireland. He finds a young woman trapped in his nets one day who claims to be a creature of folklore known as a Selkie. Naming her Ondine, Syracuse embarks upon a romantic courtship of the woman, always wondering if she is truly a magical creature, or simply just a woman he has now fallen in love with.
